Recognising that it takes more than technological innovation to deliver a better life and brighter future, the programme puts a strong focus on empowering the torchbearers of tomorrow. With the latest effort, Hope Takes Off aims to deliver the aid needed to help the young rise above challenging beginnings and reach for the stars. A fund of US$700,000 has been allocated for a total of 21 beneficiaries, with a campaign to give the public a say on the distribution of funds.
Since its inception in 2003, Samsung Hope—the largest regional social programme by Samsung—has awarded over US$2.2 million to 54 organisations. The grant money provided has benefited to date, over 600,000 underprivileged youths and those living with disabilities. For all their contributions in 2005, Samsung Hope was honoured to receive the PRISM award for corporate social responsibility.
